RE: Support for RPG and City to continue the process to revitalize the Civic Auditorium (Item 11C)

 

City Council and City Manager,

I urge you to continue the negotiations with RPG so that our city can have a fully restored, state-of-the-art, Civic Auditorium. Santa Monica deserves nothing less.

 

Publicly owned venues for music and the arts are rare and important and should not be sold off or used for other purposes. 

The fate of our historic Civic rests with you. RPG has conducted due diligence and prepared  preliminary plans for an exciting world-class performing arts center at NO cost to taxpayers. 

And by proposing a futuristic, exciting immersive experience, the Civic will attract a new generation of residents and worldwide visitors, producing new revenue for our businesses and enhancing our city’s destination status. 

 

I urge you to continue to negotiate in good faith with RPG. Ending discussions now would be a tragic missed opportunity and a huge loss for all of us.
