Save the Civic is excited to update you on the progress being made to restore the Civic Auditorium and bring to Santa Monica a vibrant music, arts, and cultural center.

At the urging of hundreds of Santa Monica residents, last March our City Council agreed to enter into an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement with the RPG team (made up of The Azoff Company, Live Nation, Oak View Group and the Make Good Group).

Since then, RPG has been hard at work with its team of architects, contractors, and historic experts to develop a vision for the Civic they can present to the community in October. RPG is doing its due diligence, including defining historic elements, figuring out the scope of work, and calculating financial estimates to restore the Civic into a world-class venue. And remember, the City and its taxpayers will bear zero costs for the restoration or operation of the new Civic.

Turning our 20th mid-century modernist landmark into a 21st century destination entertainment venue while retaining the historic features that make the Civic both a Santa Monica and National Landmark is a complex and challenging undertaking. Save the Civic is thrilled that RPG has taken on this effort and is moving forward with the work.

We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more. In the meantime, we’re excited by the progress being made and what the future holds for this incredible and storied venue.
